Hello everyone, I got my first 4x4 manual transmission Extera with 300.000 original mileage.The car runs great after some adjustments but I am a bit stuck on a particular situation and looks like I need some help.
I am running about 1000 RPM on IDLE when warm engine and it never goes below 900 RPM even after driving for hours, my problem is that when I shift in to neutral the RPMs go to 1500 and it stays there until the car comes to a complete STOP and the wheels stop turning the and only then the RPMs drop to 900/1000.
I am due for SMOG test and I am being told that the high RPMs should not be a reason for it to fail but I will find out tomorrow if that information is true so I will re post the facts.
I never had a car that the RPMs increase when in neutral (manual transmission) and I only drive manual transmission cars.
